Matthew Burrows

Matthew Burrows MBE (born 1971) is a contemporary British painter and founder of Artist Support Pledge, a global movement in support of artists and makers. Matthew lives and works in the UK and is represented by Vigo Gallery London. Burrows speaks of painting as a form of subsistence, dependent on and arising from the ground at his feet. His paintings are reflective, thoughtful and slow to reveal a complex structural space of marks, shapes and pigment. He studied as an undergraduate at Birmingham School of Art and graduated with a Master's degree in painting from the Royal College of Art London in 1995.
